傷物の花子 / Kizumono no Hanako was a cybergrind and nintendocore project started over the internet by friends Remi Gawin (programming) and Natty Gray (vocals and lyrics) through mutual interests and a desire to create cyber music. They would release one EP, three splits, and a single for a digital compilation in their time active. They performed live on only one occasion at TAF Cameron Studios on August 12, 2016 in Tulsa, Oklahoma with Campbell & Gardner and Nathan Young.

Sonically, the project has been self-described as weebcore and weebgrind by programmer, Remi, in regards to the consistent use of (typically erotic) anime samples in songs. Others have described the project as “bitskramz” due to Natty’s often times whiney vocal style. As a whole, the project’s instrumentals are typically very heavy, full, and layered while vocals tend to be only one or two tracks with minimal effects. Lyrically, Natty’s writing is usually split half between english and japanese with a tongue-in-cheek approach at themes ranging as lighthearted as “sexy link ups at the gym” to serious and personal topics, such as loss, transience, and neuroticism.

Overall, Kizumono no Hanako walks a line between cybergrind and nintendocore, anime and video games, playful and down beat, fandom and academia. A grey area project birthed from the internet that manages to have a foot and both realms at all times. This discography tape has all of the flavors from their time active and encapsulates years of friendship, collaboration, and creativity.

For Derek is extremely abrasive with its crushing mix and distorted .. well, everything. It's MySpace Nintendocore baybee! There are synth interludes (I especially dig the closing track) to provide a breather, which is a good call. There are nasty breakdowns and harsh, sometimes sassy vocals.
